"What started as something to make my friends happy in lockdown has now turned into a full time business" 


What began as an accidental lockdown project to bring smiles to friends has blossomed into a thriving full-time venture for me. Hi I'm Savannah the creative force behind The Savvy Baker.

Starting in 2020 from a small kitchen in Roundhay, I swapped my makeup brushes and nanny duties for baking trays and oven mitts. In no time, my homemade brownies became a sensation, leading it to quickly outgrow my home setup. I was thinking, "Initially, it was about lifting spirits during lockdown. I baked brownies and shared them with friends, and suddenly, social media was abuzz. Orders for brownies poured in overnight, The Savvy Baker was born!


2021 marked a year of remarkable growth for The Savvy Baker. With an overwhelming demand for our delicious brownies delivered across the region, I found a empty warehouse, took all the money I managed to save and opened my own bakery, expanding the team to include more bakers, packers, delivery drivers, and event staff. A chance business idea, fuelled by the power of social media, saw the brand amass over 40,000 followers in just a year, drawing attention from celebrities like England Football Star and Kalvin Phillips.

True to her community spirit, The Savvy Baker's bakery became a hub for local businesses, hosting markets showcasing everything from house plants to artisanal food. We took it all around the country, from Taste London to the North Leeds Food Festival, culminating in a festive residency at Trinity Leeds.

2022 brought the first store The Savvy Café on Lidgett Lane opened with her partner Jordan Simms, a cosy spot serving a wide range of bakes, including options for various dietary needs and top-notch coffee from North Star. The café, welcoming to both humans and their furry friends, invites patrons to possibly feature their pets on the "Doggie Wall of Fame. Since then we've opened other cafes in the historic city of York and Chesterfield. 2025 brought the closure of our first baby in Roundhay, in preperation to open our Trinty city centre store a real pinch me moment! "
