What began as a lockdown project to bring smiles to friends has blossomed into a thriving full-time venture for Savannah Roqaa, the creative force behind The Savvy Baker.

Starting in 2020 from a small kitchen in Roundhay, Savannah swapped her makeup brushes and nanny duties for baking trays and oven mitts. In no time, her homemade brownies became a sensation, leading her to quickly outgrow her home setup. Savannah recalls, "Initially, it was about lifting spirits during lockdown. I baked brownies and shared them with friends, and suddenly, social media was abuzz. Orders for brownies and cakes poured in overnight, and The Savvy Baker was born!

2021 marked a year of remarkable growth for The Savvy Baker. With an overwhelming demand for her delicious brownies delivered across the region, Savannah opened her own bakery, expanding her team to include more bakers, packers, delivery drivers, and event staff. Her unique journey, fuelled by the power of social media, saw the brand amass over 40,000 followers in just a year, drawing attention from celebrities like England Football Star and Kalvin Phillips.

True to her community spirit, The Savvy Baker's bakery became a hub for local businesses, hosting markets showcasing everything from house plants to artisanal food. Savannah's presence was felt at various pop-up events and food festivals, from Taste London to the North Leeds Food Festival, culminating in a festive residency at Trinity Leeds.

2022 heralded the launch of The Savvy Café on Lidgett Lane, a cosy spot serving a wide range of bakes, including options for various dietary needs and top-notch coffee from North Star. The café, welcoming to both humans and their furry friends, invites patrons to possibly feature their pets on the "Doggie Wall of Fame."
